On April 1, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference on the 135th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair). The press conference said that the 135th Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou from April 15 to May 5, and the preparations are progressing smoothly. 

According to the release, the 135th Canton Fair will cover an exhibition area of 1.55 million square meters, with 28,600 enterprises participating in the export exhibition, including more than 4,300 new exhibitors. There are 680 enterprises participating in the import exhibition of the Canton Fair. Preliminary statistics, 93,000 buyers from 215 countries and regions have completed pre-registration, more than 220 head enterprises and industrial and commercial organizations to confirm the group to participate in the fair, are more than the previous same period scale.

The Canton Fair has five characteristics: 

First, it will be more innovative and dynamic. This session of the Canton Fair exhibitors, national high-tech enterprises, manufacturing industry single champion, specializing in new "small giants" more than 5,500 enterprises, an increase of 20% over the previous session. It is expected that more than 1 million new products will be displayed on site, more than 450,000 green products and more than 250,000 products with independent intellectual property rights, all of which have increased compared with the previous session. More than 4,000 companies have won international awards for innovation and design. The R&D investment of more than 10,000 exhibitors accounts for more than 10% of their total sales revenue.

Secondly, it is more digitalized and intelligent. Will further enrich the digital technology, intelligent manufacturing display subject matter, the relevant exhibitors nearly 3,600 exhibitors, these enterprises exhibiting products including brain-computer interface intelligent bionic hand, automatic navigation and transportation equipment, artificial intelligence translator and other intelligent products more than 90,000 pieces. More than 50% of the exhibitors are actively applying artificial intelligence, big data analysis and other digital technologies to transform their production operations.

Thirdly, it pays more attention to quality and standards. The Canton Fair has always strictly controlled the "quality gate" of exhibitors and the "quality gate" of products on display, strictly prohibited enterprises with major quality accidents from participating in the fair, and exhibits must comply with the laws and regulations on the quality of export products, and the common goal of all enterprises in the Canton Fair is to achieve higher quality and standards. Fourth, it will better help stabilize the industrial chain and supply chain. Canton Fair mainly displays consumer goods, but in recent years, the proportion of intermediate and capital goods displayed at Canton Fair has increased to 12%. In the machinery zone, where capital goods are concentrated, the size of booths has increased by more than 50% in five years, and capital goods and intermediate goods are becoming more and more important in the Canton Fair. Through the Canton Fair and other platforms, China has provided the world with a large number of high-quality products with strong competitiveness and stable supply, helping countries, especially developing countries, realize industrialization, and enhancing the resilience and stability of the supply chain of the industrial chain of our region and the world.

Fifth, more services to expand exchanges. According to statistics, since the inception of the Canton Fair, more than 9.3 million overseas merchants have participated in the Fair, and 195 global partners have participated in the Fair, which has vigorously promoted trade exchanges and friendly exchanges between China and other countries and regions in the world.

In order to facilitate overseas buyers to participate in the Canton Fair in China, 90% of the embassies and consulates abroad have shortened the visa processing and issuing time to 4 working days. According to research, more than 80% of overseas buyers are satisfied with this improvement. Meanwhile, 94% of the exhibitors said that they had opened up new international markets through the Canton Fair, and 93% of the exhibitors had strengthened exchanges with their international counterparts and grasped the development trends and tendencies of the international market.
